Govt, airport officials gear up for maiden flight to Dubai from Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: Ahead of the maiden flight to Dubai from here on May 15, top government officials and airport authorities conducted a meeting to take stock of the preparations being made at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA).

"Both departure and arrival will be from the international terminal that has been renovated recently," airport director Prasanna Pradhan said after the review meeting.

He added, "Once the link building (building linking the domestic and international terminals) is ready, arrivals will be handled from there. The old conveyer belt will be used for passage of luggage. The immigration cell is also ready. The state tourism department has planned a welcome programme for departure and arrival."

Official sources said that 70 members of a special delegation from the state will board the maiden flight, to be operated by IndiGo, to Dubai in the 180-seat aircraft.
