Four held with 5kg gold worth Rs 2 crore at airport

Mumbai: Four persons including an employee of Air India Transport services and three transit Malaysian passengers who smuggled 5.1 kg of gold worth Rs 2.35 crore were held by Customs at Mumbai airport.

The Air Intelligence Unit (AIU) of Customs have arrested four persons identified as Amol Maruti Ghare, handyman of AIASL and three Malaysian nationals Ahmad Fauzi Ramli, Dzulnirzamri Ajmain and Hanis Suraya Riza.

The agency was baffled over how the three Malaysian nationals who arrived from Bangkok were communicating or coordinating with the arrested handyman Ghare. A senior official said that they are looking for one Harichandra Kaka and Neeraj from Bangkok who was coordinating between them and was taking instruction from the gold smuggling syndicates.
