Calicut 3rd highest profit-making airport for AAI; Kannur and TVM on loss

Kozhikode: Calicut airport (Karipur) is the third highest profit-making airport for the Airport Authority of India (AAI) in the year 2022-23. 

As per the data given by the Ministry of Civil Aviation in response to a question by Lok Sabha MP SR Parthiban, Calicut airport was the third highest profitmaking airport for the AAI in the last financial year after Kolkata and Chennai airports. 

 Calicut airport generated a profit of Rs 95.38 crore for AAI while Kolkata and Chennai airports generated a profit of Rs 482.30 crore and Rs 169.56 crore, respectively. Meanwhile, 

Thiruvananthapuram (Rs 110.15 crore) and Kannur (Rs 138.98) airports witnessed a loss during last year. Cochin airport generated a profit of Rs 267.17 crore. These three airports come under privately operated or managed ones (PPP). 

 According to the data, only 17 out of 125 airports generated profit during the last fiscal. 15 airports neither generated profit nor loss.
