Panaji: Union defence minister Rajnath Singh on Friday assured a delegation of ministers led by CM Pramod Sawant that the Goa International Airport at Dabolim will continue to operate.
Sawant said Union civil aviation minister Jyotiraditya Scindia also gave an assurance that Dabolim airport won't be shut for commercial flights. Instead, the Centre was looking for new flights from Dabolim, which is part of the Naval air base, Sawant said.
The chief minister, who met Singh and Scindia along with ministers Mauvin Godinho and Rohan Khaunte, discussed concerns in the state about domestic and international flights moving from Dabolim to GMR-run Manohar International Airport at Mopa and urged the Centre to ensure the old airport continues to operate.
