Two from Gujarat arrested at Mumbai airport

Mumbai: Two passengers trying to fly to the UK from Mumbai with allegedly fake BTech and BCom degree certificates were arrested earlier this month after they failed to explain to immigration officials at the city airport on what the basis did they get the skilled worker migrant visa and what the kind of work were they expected to do on reaching the country.

Sahar police said both are school dropouts. A skilled worker visa requires a 'certificate of sponsorship' from the UK employer with information about the role.

During the probe, police reportedly found out one of the accused, Gauri Patel (30) from Gujarat's Dabhoi taluka, had been allegedly assured by an agent of a job on reaching the UK. She was to pay him Rs 25 lakh. The other accused, Krishnakumar Patel (22), from Umreth taluka in Gujarat, was to allegedly pay him Rs 15 lakh.
