Int'l flyer held at RGIA with 5kg cocaine worth Rs 50 crore

Hyderabad: Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) sleuths arrested an international air passenger on Friday night at RGI Airport as he was allegedly attempting to smuggle 5kg of cocaine worth 50 crore.

The accused, who is an Indian national, reached Hyderabad from Laos via Delhi. DRI officials recovered 5 bags of cocaine wrapped in sealed covers during baggage checking.

Revenue Intelligence officials said that the accused smuggled the contraband in false compartments made in his luggages, which was a trolley suitcase and ladies handbags.

"The accused was a carrier and was supposed to take the consignment worth 50 crore to Delhi," said DRI officials.
