Bio-chemical threat lessons for airport emergency team

Bhopal: National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) conducted a three-day training on ‘CBRN emergency management’ for airport emergency handlers.

Officials said that the purpose of the training was to provide basic knowledge and skills to identify chemical and biological threat agents, to manage casualties of chemical and biological agent exposures and to deliver basic life support in emergencies. Besides the theoretical part, the training also conducted of a practical component.

CBRN agents are hazardous materials either naturally occurring or artificially produced. Officials said that many CBRN agents are invisible which makes them difficult to detect. These types of agents could create mass casualty and vastly disrupt the society by causing illness or even death.

The gathering was informed that the CBRN agents are dangerous and it must be contained and isolated as soon as possible
