A shocking case has been reported from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, where a gold jewellery parcel worth ₹2.58 crore went missing during transit to Bangalore. A complaint has now been filed against the airline company for alleged negligence and breach of trust.
According to the complaint, Richpalsingh Rathod, a resident of New Ranip and a security manager in a logistics firm, reported the matter to the police. He stated that on April 18, a jeweller handed over seven parcels containing gold ornaments to the logistics company for delivery to Bangalore.
Out of these, one parcel weighing around 13 kg went missing. It reportedly contained 2 kg 107 grams and 562 milligrams of gold jewellery, with an estimated value of ₹2.58 crore. The shipment was booked on a flight operated by Akasa Air flight QP1901.
The parcels were handed over to the airline at the cargo terminal in Ahmedabad at around 2:15 am, and all seven were officially received by the airline staff. However, after the flight landed in Bangalore, only six parcels were delivered.
The situation became more confusing as airline staff in Ahmedabad claimed that all seven parcels were loaded onto the aircraft. On the other hand, staff in Bangalore said they received only six parcels. Despite repeated follow-ups, the airline reportedly failed to provide a clear explanation about the missing shipment, states the complaint.
