Mangaluru: Mangaluru International Airport secured three gold awards at the 9th Conclave on Poka Yoke, Jidoka, and SMED organised by the Quality Circle Forum of India, Bengaluru Chapter. In collaboration with Updater Services Ltd (UDS), airport teams presented multiple process-improvement solutions based on the Poka-Yoke principle. A team led by Sajith E.V. and Vijayalakshmi demonstrated a remote-controlled hazard-prevention device designed for high-mast maintenance, earning a gold award.
Another UDS team comprising Kiran Kumar and Manjunatha showcased a PLC-based water level monitoring system aimed at improving precision and operational reliability. The airport’s Electrical and Mechanical (E&M) department, represented by Ippsita Choudhury and Siddharth Ojha, also received a gold award for implementing Poka-Yoke solutions in operations and maintenance to minimise human error and reduce congestion and downtime in airside activities.
