The Indian Air Force (IAF) has raised concerns over the increasing circulation of photographs and videos from the Air Force Station at Leh on social media, prompting the Union Territory administration of Ladakh to order stricter enforcement of security regulations around the strategically important installation. Officials said the sharing of images showing operational areas could compromise security and operational confidentiality.
Following the IAF's concerns, Ladakh's Civil Aviation Department convened a high-level meeting involving the Air Force, Airports Authority of India and other agencies. Administrative Secretary Nidhi Malik directed authorities to prevent unauthorized photography and videography, strengthen public awareness about restricted zones, and formulate standard operating procedures for sensitive locations. The meeting also reviewed the installation of surveillance infrastructure, infrastructure projects around the airport, and measures to ensure that future development activities comply with aviation safety and security requirements.
