Airbus expert bats for 'Made in India' civilian planes

Bengaluru: An expert has noted that the Indian civil aviation industry is set to be the third largest market by 2026, and has has called for a multi-pronged approach to develop the sector.

Addressing delegates at the Prestige Austin Lecture hosted by UK-based Institution of Engineering and Technology here on Thursday, Research Team Leader at Airbus Group, Pablo Bermell-Garcia, said: “Civil aviation in India has been growing for at least ten years now. In India, there is abundance of young engineers, and hence the need for constructive engagement between the government and industry that will help establish policies focusing on developing a ‘Made in India’ civilian plane industry. This will help meet both the local and global demand for new technologies.”
