Dehradun: Come Thursday and Uttarakhand will finally make the much-awaited foray into the field of low-cost flight as the first nine-seater fixed-wing aircraft will take off from the state capital's Jolly Grant airport for Pithoragarh airport.
The lost-cost flights will also operate between Dehradun and Chilyanisor, in Uttarkashi district which is over 170 km away.
Secretary, Civil Aviation, R Meenakshi Sundaram said that the plans are afoot to add ten more routes in a phased manner to offer air connectivity between Garhwal and Kumaon regions. "The trial operation was successful on the Dehradun-Pithoragarh route on Tuesday," said Sundaram.
