Power outages disrupt essential services at Dabolim airport

The Dabolim airport terminal building encountered frequent power failure on Monday afternoon, disrupting essential services involving those of the recently commissioned passenger boarding bridge (PBB) or aerobridges.
As per available information from highly placed sources, there was frequent power failure at the integrated terminal building of Dabolim airport during the afternoon hours.

The frequent power failures caused inconvenience to passengers and even affected other essential services. The Dabolim international airport gets power supply from the state electricity department. The integrated terminal building of Dabolim airport receives power supply from the 33KV sub-station based at Sancoale through underground cables.

Highly placed sources disclosed that major impact was seen at the newly commissioned two PBB/aerobridges. The airlines which were utilising the newly commissioned aerobridges were delayed for a few minutes prior to take off from Dabolim airport. The airline operators raised strong concern over the frequent power outages at the international airport.

Airport director Bhupesh Chand Hans Negi, admitted that the Dabolim airport was affected by frequent power failure on Monday afternoon. He however disclosed that the reason behind the frequent power failure was not known, but he would ask for a detailed report from concerned authorities. He however ruled out any major problem at the integrated terminal building.
