Lufthansa Jul Passenger Count +4.6% At 4.97 Million

Frankfurt: German air carrier Deutsche Lufthansa AG Wednesday said its passenger airlines transported nearly five million passenger in Jul. 2006, up 4.6% on the year.
Available capacity increased only slightly, by 0.6%, whereas sales were up 1.4% on the year. The passenger load factor rose by 0.7% points to 79.1%.
The available capacity in the Asia/Pacific traffic region grew by 1.8%. Sales increased by 2.9% and capacity utilization improved by 0.9% points to 82.9%. Passenger numbers also elevated substantially by 6.6%. The Asia/Pacific traffic region again showed very positive progress, with cargo tonnage climbing by 9.3% and capacity utilization by 1.3% points to 71.1%.
As of Dec. 1, Kolkata as the sixth destination in India will be added to Lufthansa's flight schedule. The Indian metropolis will be served directly from Frankfurt three times a week. Thus, the number of flights a week from Germany to India will grow to 45.
