Boeing MRO unit not to go out of Nagpur: minister

Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel has said that he will ensure that the proposed maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) unit of US aircraft manufacturer Boeing does not go out of Nagpur.
The MRO unit is being set up here in fulfilment of the promise the aviation giant made to the central government as part of a deal last year and there is no question of any change in that decision, Patel told reporters here Saturday.
The Boeing proposal had seemingly run into rough weather earlier this month following a statement by the executive head of the Maharashtra Airport Development Company (MADC) R.C. Sinha that the aviation major's demand for 80 hectares of land was impossible to fulfil.
The MADC is a partner in the special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up with the Airport Authority of India (AAI) to develop the proposed cargo and passenger hub in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ), adjacent to the international airport at Nagpur.
