Aviation sector to touch the sky by 2010

New Delhi: The aviation industry is a booming sector which will generate nearly 2.5 lakh jobs by year 2010, an Assocham report has said. The civil aviation sector is pegged to rise to be Rs 35,000 crores industry by the time, the report went on to add.
Titled ‘Aftermath of Commonwealth games 2010,’ the report predicts that with the modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai international airports and revamping of 35 metro airports, airlines and airport industry will create over 2.5 lakh jobs. “We are talking of investments up to Rs1,50,000 crores in this sector,” said DS Rawat, Assocham secretary.
Surprisingly international airlines have been projected as the winner since approximately ten million foreign tourists are expected to visit India by 2010. The year of the Commonwealth Games will see one million international tourists, it predicts.
