New Delhi: An Air India plane, with 400 passengers onboard, today suffered a bird hit after taking off from Mumbai and returned to the airport safely within an hour.
The Boeing 747-400 took off from Mumbai airport at 0645 hours for Chicago via Frankfurt and within an hour it reported to the Air Traffic Control about the bird-hit.
The plane landed at 0745 hours at the Mumbai airport after taking all necessary precautions, an Air India spokesperson said.
All the passenger -- three first class, 22 business class and 378 economy -- were immediately shifted to another plane, which took off at 0845 hours.
