Bangalore: Around 25 passengers heading to Singapore on an Indian Airlines flight were stranded on Sunday night as they weren't permitted to board the flight. Authorities said it was a case of overbooking and passengers did not reconfirm their tickets - a normal practice followed by all airlines.
Passengers checked in at 9 pm to board the flight scheduled to leave at 12.05 am, but had to return home at 2 am. Anandraj S Jain and Nalini A Jain were among those who were caught off-guard.
Jain told TOI passengers were shocked at the treatment meted out to them. "We were asked to board the next day's flight as they claimed we had no tickets," Jain said.
Indian Airlines PRO Chandrashekar told TOI: "Passengers did not reconfirm their tickets 72 hours before departure. However, on Sunday, arrangements were made for a few passengers to board a Singapore Airlines flight, while others were given an endorsement to board the flight next day."
