RAK Airways to begin India services today

Thiruvananthapuram: Close on the heels of Kerala government trimming its VAT rate on ATF (aviation turbine fuel), UAE-based RAK Airways has picked Kerala as its first destination to India. The carrier has announced the launch of its service to India from Ras Al Khaimah through the destination Kozhikode (in Kerala) from April 23.
The launching ceremony was held at Ras Al Khaimah in the presence of Sheikh Omar Bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Chairman, RAK Airways Sheikh Salem Bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Chairman and Dr Khater Massaad, managing director, RAK Airways, a release, here, has said. RAK Airways is the fourth air carrier in UAE, RAK Airways offers non-stop flights from Ras Al Khaimah to Dhaka, Colombo, Chittagong and now to Kozhikode, K Ravidran, CEO, RAK Airways, said, here. The carrier uses Boeing 757 aircraft, with a passenger capacity of 194, of which 174 in Economy and 20 in business class. From Ras Al Khaimah, Economy class passengers can carry 40 kg checked baggage while premium class passengers are offered 50 kg. Additionally, they have the normal hand baggage allowance.
RAk'S India service departs Ras Al Khaimah at 0340 hours and arrives Kozhikode at 0900 hours.The return flight departs Kozhikode at 1000 hours and arrives at Ras Al Khaimah at 1230 hours.
