Department of Post to wet lease three aircraft

NEW DELHI: The Department of Post plans to wet lease three freighter aircraft for transport of mail across major cities.
Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication Jyotiraditya Scindia said in a written reply in Lok Sabha, "The Department has a 11th plan scheme for wet lease of three freighter aircraft for transport of mail for major cities. However, the scheme is yet to be approved by the Expenditure Finance Committee".
A wet lease is a leasing arrangement whereby one airline provides an aircraft, crew, maintenance, and insurance to another airline or company, which pays by hours operated. The lessee provides fuel, covers airport fees, and any other duties and taxes.
