India’s first flight operations Type Rating Training School now in Mumbai.

Jet Airways has become India’s first airline to obtain the approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), for its Type Rating Training School as the Type Rating Training Organization (TRTO).
With the TRTO approval granted by DGCA to the Establishment the endorsement course & examinations will be conducted in-house (under the supervision of DGCA). This will expedite the training commitments and enable Jet Airways to induct pilots in smaller batches at regular intervals in order to optimize the usage of simulator as well as ground school training facilities. Earlier the evaluation used to be conducted by DGCA.
This approval for the training establishment was granted to Jet Airways on April 15, 2008.
Mr. Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, CEO, Jet Airways, said, “This TRTO approval for Jet Airways’ Training School is a matter of great pride for the airline. With consolidation of the airline’s international network, and its future growth plans in place, this approval will aid a faster, more-efficient induction of pilots into its workforce to fly its growing fleet of narrow and wide-body Jets.”
Jet Airways Training School will function as a TRTO for conducting:
Endorsement training on B737 NG, B777 & A330 A/C.
Refresher/Re-current training on B737 NG, B777 & A330 A/C.
Checks & specialized operations on B737 NG, B777 & A330 A/C.
Jet Airways’ Training School, which received the approval from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, has been active from early-1995, training pilots, flight engineers and flight dispatchers.
Initially transition & recurrent trainings was conducted either at the facility of the manufacturer or at the Malaysian Airline Training Centre, Kuala Lumpur. The switch over to in-house training has resulted in appreciable cost savings as well as standardization and development of training expertise within the country. Currently the ground training is conducted by DGCA approved instructors, who are selected as per the criteria documented in the training manual.
