Agartala: Security was beefed up at Agartala Airport following directives from Airports Authority of India (AAI) and the Civil Aviation Ministry, official sources said on Saturday.
The AAI and the Civil Aviation Ministry had yesterday directed the authorities here to arrange high security for the airport.
The AAI has sought the help of state police to help them in maintaining proper security of the airport which is situated just near the Indo-Bangladesh international border, the sources said.
All the vehicles passing near the airport are being checked and a strict vigil is being maintained near the parking place, they said.
Meanwhile, sources in Border Security Force (BSF) said, they have stepped up patrolling along the 856-km long international border with Bangladesh to stop any kind of cross- border movement.
Earlier, the Director General of Police, Pranay Sahaya sounded a high alert throughout Tripura following the recent serial blasts in Guwahati.
