Chandigarh: Hundreds of airline passengers had to bow down to the vagaries of the weather as the Instrument Landing System (ILS) at the Chandigarh Airport was not functioning on Friday.
Not a single flight operated at the city airport today with all the flights from Delhi and Mumbai being diverted back to Delhi.
Passengers had to undergo further harassment as the aircraft were grounded for hours at the Delhi airport.
After waiting for hours for confirmation of take off, they were finally informed that the flights would not operate.
The staff of various airlines had a hard time fielding queries from the restless passengers and their kin.
“..As visibility was not that bad as compared to the foggy winter days, the passengers could not believe the reason for the disruption,” said a member of the ground staff of Jet Airways.
The airport authorities, meanwhile, admitted that the ILS had not been operational for the last six months.
