Jaipur: Rajasthan's anti-corruption bureau (ACB) played the role of a whistleblower in the case of pilots fraudulently getting commercial pilot licenses (CPL) from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
While the Delhi Police has only now stumbled upon the malpractise, with an Air India pilot being arrested on Sunday for forged papers to get a licence, the Rajasthan ACB had claimed, nearly four months ago, that rackets were preparing nation-wide fake documents for getting CPLs from DGCA.
The agency also revealed that some pilots who got CPL fraudulently after getting flying training from Rajasthan were flying commercial planes in the country.
Names of at least 14 pilots had come up who were issued flying hours certificates through dubious means by chief flying inspector of the Rajasthan state flying school at Sanganer Airport, Mohindar Kumar Chaudhary and his counterpart at Haryana Institute of Civil Aviation in Hisar, Mahavir Singh Beniwal. These certificates were used by the pilots to get the CPL from the DGCA.
Along with Chaudhary and Beniwal, the agency had arrested additional general manager of Sanganer International Airport's air traffic control (ATC) Manoj Jain and three pilots including one Rahul Yadav who had flown 1,000 hours for Indian. Officials said others will be arrested soon.
An ACB probe had revealed that some of these pilots were working with airlines such as Indian, JetLite, SpiceJet and a few yet-to-be identified companies.
