Pilot indicted for earlier crash

Bangalore: This is not the first time that Air Commodore Roj Assey, a retired Indian Air Force pilot and trainer at HAL, is finding himself in a crash. He survived a helicopter training sortie problem on August 27, 2010. The Chetak helicopter flown by Air Commodore Assey and trainee pilot Captain Vijenthra Singh of the Indian Army crashlanded at HAL Airport. The helicopter had just taken off and after touching about 15 ft, it crashlanded along the taxiway. Tail-rotor failure was suspected. Both pilots sustained only minor injuries but the aircraft was badly damaged.
A DGCA investigation showed that the cause was the sudden pitch of the helicopter and improper handling of controls by the instructor.
