AAI achievement award for Nagpur airport


Nagpur:  The Nagpur Airport has received Special Achievement Award 2012-2013 from Airports Authority of India. Airport director AK Verma received it at Delhi on April 1. "This award is the result of a series of upgradations in systems under AAI in Nagpur which was possible due to excellent team work," Verma said upo his return.
Nagpur became the first airport in India to commission the INDRA system and also has ADSB system. He informed that no other airport in the country had commissioned INDRA yet. "The GAGAN system is also ready and will be commissioned this year," he added.
Giving a presentation on the improved systems of the airport, Ramakant Ghatol, DGM, Training, said that due to these changes, a positive image of the city and also Indian aviation was being created. "Because of these, about five million litres of aviation fuel worth Rs 37 crore had been saved in Nagpur airspace alone. There was a reduction of about 3300 tonnes of carbon emissions," he said.
