IndiGo airlines may start daily flights from Surat


Surat:  If all goes well, IndiGo may start its domestic operations connecting Surat with important destinations in the country.
A delegation of industrialists from the city had gone to New Delhi on Friday to meet the higher authorities of IndiGo airlines to discuss about their future plans and urging them to kick start daily operations from the Surat airport.
Sources said the delegation members received a positive response from the higher authorities of IndiGo airlines including its vice-president Ajay Bhatnagar, who are keen to connect Surat with other important destinations in the country.
Mahendra Katargamwala, vice-president elect of Southern Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Industry ( SGCCI), who was in the delegation told TOI, "The city has a population of 48 lakh and still we have only two domestic flight operators.
