Juhu airport gets CCTVs, additional cops for security

Mumbai: Closed-circuit cameras and additional police personnel have been deployed around the Juhu airport in an attempt to make it more secure.
The Juhu airport, located by the Arabian sea, is at threat from anti-national elements who can use it as a launching pad to attack the city and its main airport which is in the vicinity.
Despite a number of alerts regarding this by intelligence agencies in the past, not a single armed guard had been manning the airport until now.
“The airport security is our priority and we are taking all possible steps to ensure the same,” said acting Juhu airport Director VK Punyal. Thirty policemen now guard the airport, and authorities are likely to increase their numbers. Chartered flight companies operating from the airport too have been asked to bring in private guards to protect their hangars, sources said.
