Gold disguised as silver lands in customs net

Panaji:  In the second incident of gold smuggling in ten days, customs officials seized 900g of gold from two passengers at the Dabolim airport on Wednesday.
The gold, in the form of jewellery, was being smuggled on an Air India flight from Dubai to Goa via Mumbai.
The duo, however, added an ingenious touch to their smuggling operation-two items of gold jewellery, a thick chain and a 'kada', or men's bracelet were plated with some cheap silver-lookalike material, to evade identification as gold. One of them was wearing the smuggled jewellery when they were intercepted by sleuths in the 'green channel' at the airport.
