Chennai: The airport witnessed some action on Tuesday when officials found an unusual substance in a Kuala Lumpur-bound passenger's bag. The substance turned out to be 25kg of ephedrine, a party drug, but the passenger was missing. Soon, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel began a thorough search and the passenger was found, with the help of closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera footage, in the old international terminal.
He was identified as Barkath Ali from Ramanathapuram who was scheduled to fly out by a Malaysian Airlines aircraft. The seized contraband is worth about 25 lakh in the international market, officials said.
