INTUC plans stir at airports

Kochi: Around 7,000 workers of the Kerala State Industrial Enterprises from  the international airports, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kochi and Karipur, will go on a strike against the reported transfer of complete ground-handling and air-cargo works to the Air India Sac, said VP George, secretory, INTUC.
He pointed out that if the Air India Sacs, a Singapore-based private company is awarded the ground-handling work, the KSIE members will halt all the services at the airports in Kerala. Currently, the Air India Sacs handles the ground-handling system at Thiruvananthapuram International Airport and is operating under KSIE at present. He alleged that the Air India Sacs, which is a private company, is cheating the government and the people since 2008 posing itself as a public sector undertaking.
