'Will tap potential of Mysore airport'

Bangalore: The State government is making efforts to tap the potential of Mysore Airport to attract more tourists, both domestic and foreign, Tourism Minister R V Deshpande said here on Friday. He told reporters that the Mysore Airport is not being used to its full potential. “We have taken some measures to address the issue,” he added.
Stating that recently he had a meeting with the representatives of several domestic airline operators, including SpiceJet, IndiGo and Jet Airways, he said: “They have sought some incentives to operate their flights, which we are considering.”
Among other things the airlines are demanding a reduction in tax on aviation fuel, and incentive for operating their flights. “I have also taken up the matter with the Civil Aviation Ministry to see that Mysore airport is utilised to its full potential,” he said.
