1.5kg gold seized at Dabolim airport

Panaji: Sleuths from the directorate of revenue intelligence (DRI) seized around 1.5 kilos of gold from a passenger at the Goa international airport Dabolim early on Saturday morning.
The passenger, who arrived on an Air Arabia flight from Sharjah, was allegedly carrying the precious metal hidden in his luggage. The haul is said to be worth almost 50 lakh.While the intelligence agency declined to give details about the case, sources said that the DRI had received a tip-off about the contraband, and officers were lying inwait for the smuggler.
The unidentified passenger was reportedly intercepted as soon as he got off the aircraft, even before he made it to customs and immigrtion.The DRI has registered a case and arrested the passenger.
