Floating airfield and 'mini-city' INS Vikramaditya will be handed over to India on November 16

INS Vikramaditya, India's floating airfield, will head home later this month completely transformed from the vessel it was at the time of its induction into the Russian fleet in the early 1990s.
November 16 will mark the end of one of the longest acquisition processes the country has ever participated in as Russia hands over the former Admiral Gorshkov's spanking new avatar to India at Sevmash Shipyard in Severodvinsk.
Another three months, and the $2.3 billion aircraft carrier – described as a state-of-the art modern "mini city" – will arrive on Indian shores.
Officials at Sevmash, where the overhaul exercise termed 'Project 11430' was carried out, is upbeat about what it has achieved.
The Russian authorities believe they are handing over the most modern platform to the Indian Navy that is comparable to the best in the business - a fact they say completely justifies the significantly enhanced price.
