PMA takes Mopa airport issue to Rane

Mapusa: Congress's meeting attended by AICC's Goaobserver AICC secretary Dr AChella Kumar witnessed disturbing scenes after leader of opposition Pratap Singh Rane allegedly refused to accept the memorandum by ' People for Mopa Airport' (PMA) - the NGO formed in support of the Mopa airport . Earlier AChella Kumar had accepted the memorandum and also gave a peaceful hearing to the activist of the PMA.
Mandrem block congress had organised a convention for the party workers and supporters at Agarwada in Pernem on Sunday evening attended by AChella Kumar, Rane, Ramakant Khalap and other congress leaders.
"We wanted to meet AChella Kumar so that our demands reaches the centre, he met us at the entrance of the hall, accepted our memorandum and listen to our requests, so do Ramakant Khalap" said PMA convenor Devendra Prabhudesai.
Prabhudesai further said that the leader of the opposition in the state Assembly, Pratapsing Rane had gone on record saying that Mopa airport is not an immediate necessity and that a decision on the project could wait for a later date, which was the irresponsible statements and therefore PMA specially wanted to convey him the sentiments of the people of Pernem on Mopa airport.
