Trichy: The airport officials are leaving no stone unturned in catching lawbreakers, including smugglers. Recently, the airport acquired a special sniffer dog team comprising four dogs to boost security.
The senior officials from the customs department said the security at the airport is on par with the bigger ones. They pointed out that untoward incidents, including smuggling, could be averted if vigilance is high. Last year, a woman who tried to smuggle drugs into the country from Malaysia, was caught by intelligence officials, he said. On the issue of security nothing could be compromised. We follow the guidelines of Directorate General of Civil Aviation and the airport authorities to maintain stringent security, they explained.
