Cab drivers quizzed after jewels stolen from bag at airport

Chennai: Police have picked up four taxi drivers in connection with the theft of gold jewellery and a few liquor bottles from a passenger's bag at the Chennai airport. The airport police questioned the suspected drivers based on CCTV footages recorded at the airport.
Vijayakumar, 30, a software engineer from Alwarpet, had returned to the city from Singapore. He complained that on reaching home, he found 20 sovereigns of gold jewellery and two liquor bottles were missing. In his complaint, he said, "I had kept all my belongings including the liquor bottles bought from the duty-free shop in the boot of the vehicle. When I reached home, the items were missing."
Based on Vijayakumar's complaint, airport police registered a case and launched a hunt for the accused.
