Delhi-bound flyers grounded at Ahmedabad

Ahmedabad: As many as 13 flights were either diverted to or cancelled from the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport here due to the dense fog in Delhi since late Sunday evening. Many flights were delayed on Monday. More than 1,300 passengers were affected as several flights for Delhi, Indore and Jaipur were diverted to the city airport.
Early morning flights to Delhi, Jaipur and Indore were cancelled from Ahmedabad while five flights heading towards Jaipur and Delhi from Mumbai were diverted to Ahmedabad. Airport Authority of India (AAI) officials at the city airport had tough time managing the traffic as well as passengers till the weather cleared in Delhi by late afternoon.
An international flight of SpiceJet from Dubai to Delhi was also diverted to Ahmedabad. Two flights from Ranchi and Pune heading towards Delhi had to land at city airport as visibility in Delhi airport remained below 100 metres for the most part of the morning.
