Guwahati: New Delhi-bound passengers from Guwahati had a horrific time on Sunday with fog preventing their flights from landing at the IGI Airport. Around 150 domestic and international flights, flying to and from the New Delhi airport, were affected.
"Our flight was supposed to land at 9.30 pm. When we had almost reached New Delhi, the flight was diverted to Lucknow at around 10 pm," Assam MLA from Nazira constituency, Debabrata Saikia told TOI on Monday. He had boarded the New Delhi-bound SG 881 Spice Jet aircraft from here.
The scene at the Chaudhary Charan Singh Airport in Lucknow was chaotic after at least 20 flights bound for New Delhi were diverted to the airport late on Sunday. The 20 diverted planes caused overcrowding of the airport tarmac which can accommodate 24 planes at a time.
