Dibrugarh: A guest house was opened on Wednesday at the New Terminal Building of the Dibrugarh Airport at Mohanbari, the easternmost civilian airport of the country. At present, three fully-furnished suite quality rooms have been provided at the guest house. There is a provision for three more such rooms.
Passengers who need to arrive at the airport a day in advance to board their flights can now stay at the guest house at reasonable rates in comparison to star category hotels.
It is also learnt that the Transport Department of the Government of Assam has released a sum of Rs 3.30 crore to the district administration to make payments to land owners whose land will be acquired for the proposed extension of the runway at the airport. Sections of people have urged the district administration here to arrange for speedy resolution of the issue to facilitate the early start of the delayed work on the extension of the runway.
