Kanpur: The police are on their toes in the district following recent inputs by the Intelligence Bureau warning of possible terror attacks across the state ahead of Republic Day celebrations.
IB officials have reportedly informed the state home department about the suspected movement of two terrorists in the state. A senior police official said, "We have received inputs from top brass in the state capital and are working on a strategy very seriously. The cops have been alerted and search operations at places of public importance across the city are underway."
He said special emphasis has been accorded to the security around sensitive installations including Ahirwan Airport in Chakeri, Panki Power Grid, State Bank of India building, Collectorate premises, GPO, Ordnance Equipment factory, Small Arms factory, Parachute Factory and Ordnance Depot.
