New Airport for Puducherry

Puducherry: The government is planning to develop a new airport at Sederapet on the site acquired for establishing Special Economic Zone, Chief Minister N Rangasamy said. The expansion of the Lawspet airport by getting adjoining land from Tamil Nadu would facilitate plying of bigger aircraft.
Currently, the airport can handle only ATR type of craft.  Spicejet which is plying the 78- seater Bombardier Q 400 aircraft on Puducherry-Bangalore route is plying with lower capacity due to limitations of the runway.
