Kolkata: Acting on spot intelligence, officers of Customs air intelligence unit at Kolkata airport intercepted the six passengers on Wednesday evening as they attempted to walk through the green channel. Two of them had arrived from Bangkok and the other four from Singapore.
While search of their baggage did not reveal anything, on being frisked and interrogated, they confessed that they had concealed gold bars in their rectum. The 24 karat bars were recovered on Thursday. Weighing 2.614 kg, the seizure is valued at over Rs 75 lakh.
