Bangalore: It's the season of hikes. After the hike in toll rates on the road to Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), get ready to pay a higher user development fee (UDF) at the airport. In order to mobilize Rs 4,000 crore for development of infrastructure and expansion plans at KIA, the state cabinet meeting chaired by chief minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday gave nod to the Airport Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) to increase the fee.
The decision comes after the state government, which also holds 13% equity in KIA, plans to aggressively expand the airport in future. The capital expenditure incurred on development of infrastructure would be compensated through the hike in UDF levied on passengers.
