Kanpur: The only passenger flight of Air India, coming to Chakeri Airport in Kanpur from New Delhi, had been grounded in the name of maintenance. This has been done by Air India management citing losses being suffered by making this flight operational. But two officials of Air India gave contradicting reasons for grounding the flight. Air India's station manager BS Negi claimed that the flight has been stopped to conduct maintenance work in the aircraft. Pradeep Oberoi, chief of marketing, Alliance Air said that the flight has grounded as it was causing financial losses. According to Negi, the flight will resume again after 10-15 days.
Oberoi said that at present there is no plan to operate this flight. In future, if the runway is extended, the flight will land here, he added.
According to RA Kushwaha, incharge, Chakeri Airport, Air India has been giving different reasons for the wrapping up of the Delhi-Kanpur flight. He said that sometimes it is said that the runway will be extended and at other times, the maintenance of the flight is given as a reason for grounding the flight. Till next notice from Air India, the flight will not take off from Delhi, said the AAI official further.
