MLAs backing airport at Mopa should move to Maha: Sardesai

Margao: 'Goemkar' convener and independent MLA, Vijai Sardesai, while castigating chief minister Manohar Parrikar for his reported comments during the recent election meeting at Sindhudurg, called for MLAs supporting the construction of an airport at Mopa to shift to Maharashtra.

"The statement by the chief minister of Goa indicates that the Mopa airport project of the Goa government is meant not for the benefit of Goa but of Maharashtra. It is also being encouraged by an impotent opposition," said Sardesai. The Fatorda MLA also wondered how many Goan MLAs' loyalties lay with the state and how many with Sindhudurg following Parrikar's statements.

Calling for fresh elections owing to the Mopa issue, Sardesai said that the 'altar boys' have no right to represent Goans if they allow the 'monstrosity' that is Mopa to continue.
