AI flights delayed, cancelled, passengers create ruckus at airport

Terminal 1A faced chaos due to delays and cancellations of flights on two consecutive days. On Friday, passengers flying from Mumbai to Allahabad on Air India’s AI 9614 flight were told that the flight had been cancelled. This was the second time such an incident took place. The same flight was cancelled on Tuesday as well. Meanwhile, on Saturday, a flight to Nagpur was delayed for four hours, due to unavailability of a pilot.
The flight AI 9614 was slated to take off at 12.45 pm, but at 1.30 pm on Friday, it was announced that the flight had been cancelled. The frustrated passengers had a heated argument with the airport staff, as they had faced a similar situation on Tuesday. Some of them had been asked to report back on Friday, but were once again, let down by the unavailability of the aircraft.
Expressing his disappointment, MP Singh, a passenger said, “The departure time mentioned on my ticket was 10.30 am, while on another passenger’s ticket it was 1 pm. How can one flight have two timings? This clearly indicates that the airline already knew about this goof up.” Another passenger said, “They have issued us a boarding pass flight that stated the flight would take off on Saturday. This will, however, take us to Varanasi from where we will be shifted to an Allahabad flight. I had to join my office on Friday but I will be unable to do so. On top of that, the airline staff is rude and least bothered about their passengers.” The flight, originally slotted for 8 am on Saturday, finally left at 11.15 am.
