Auto drivers seek entry into airport

Chennai: Demanding that they be allowed entry into the airport, more than 300 autorickshshaw drivers of an auto-taxi drivers union staged a protest today at the airport here.

The protesting auto drivers demanded that the Airports Authority of India (AAI) permit autos to drop passengers inside the airport.

CITU general secretary V Kumar said, 'Since the entry of autos inside the airport was prohibited from 18 August 2009, passengers have found it difficult to walk into the airport from the main road. Senior citizens, women and children are especially affected because of this.'
