Steps sought to promote connectivity to airport

Members of the Andhra Pradesh Air Travellers’ Association (APATA) met Union Minister of Civil Aviation P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju recently and appealed to him to initiate steps to promote air connectivity to Visakhapatnam International Airport.

APATA representatives Y. Siva Sagar Rao, Ch. Ramakotaiah, O. Naresh Kumar, D.S. Varma and Kumar Raja along with members of the Chamber of Commerce discussed with the Minister on the development of air connectivity, helicopter tourism, overnight parking of aircraft at Visakhapatnam International Airport to facilitate operation of early morning and late night flights from and to Vizag.

They also appealed to the Civil Aviation Minister to consider the request of Fly Dubai to operate a daily scheduled flight from Visakhapatnam to Dubai. The Country Head of Fly Dubai S. Pran Dasan had already written to the Secretary in the Ministry of Civil Aviation on May 19, last year, seeking granting of 1,218 seats a week (one flight a day) outside the bilateral entitlements as this would advantageous to both AP and its people.
