Jaipur: Rajasthan government is all set to widen the airstrip leading to a full-fledged airport at Jhalawar, the constituency of chief minister Vasundhara Raje. The project has been divided into two phases incurring a cost of Rs 159 crore.
As per the project report prepared by PWD, length of the airstrip after the first phase would be 2,350 metres and after second phase would be 3,000 metres. Estimated cost of the first phase was reported to be Rs 125 crore and that of second phase Rs 34 crore. Existing length of the airstrip is 1,710 metres and width 30 metres.
Once completed, the extended runway will have landing facility for medium size airplanes. Approval for the project was granted last month during a meeting held at chief secretary level to expedite the process.
